1. Acceptance of Terms

By adding Lane to your Discord server or interacting with Lane in any server where it is present, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Lane.

2. What Lane Is

Lane is an experimental AI chatbot persona built on large language model (LLM) technology. Lane is not a person, does not have genuine feelings or consciousness, and should not be treated as a substitute for human relationships or professional advice. Responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected.

3. User Conduct

When interacting with Lane, you agree not to:

• Attempt to manipulate Lane into producing harmful, illegal, or abusive content through prompt injection, jailbreaking, or other adversarial techniques.
• Use Lane to harass, threaten, or target other users.
• Submit personally identifiable information (PII) belonging to yourself or others (e.g. addresses, passwords, financial details) into the chat.
• Use Lane for any unlawful purpose under applicable law.

4. Memory and Data

Lane uses a persistent memory system (RAG / vector database) to recall context from past conversations. By interacting with Lane, you acknowledge:

• Messages you send may be stored as vector embeddings and retrieved in future sessions.
• Memory is associated with your Discord user ID and is retained across sessions until manually cleared.
• You may request deletion of your stored memory data by contacting the server administrator.

Lane does not share your conversation data with third parties beyond the AI inference provider used to generate responses.

5. Voice and TTS

Lane may join voice channels and produce synthesized speech via text-to-speech (TTS). By using this feature:

• You consent to AI-generated audio being played in shared voice channels.
• Do not submit text intended to produce misleading, offensive, or harmful audio content through TTS.

6. AI Limitations and No Warranty

Lane's responses are generated by AI and carry no guarantees of accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any purpose. Lane may:

• Produce factually incorrect information ("hallucinations").
• Behave inconsistently across sessions.
• Misinterpret context or tone.

Lane is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. Do not rely on Lane for medical, legal, financial, mental health, or emergency guidance.

7. Availability

Lane is an indie project and is provided on a best-effort basis. Uptime, feature availability, and response quality are not guaranteed. The developer reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Lane at any time without notice.

8. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of Lane after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
